Whale Watching in Hermanus
Between June and November each year, hundreds of southern right whales migrate from Antarctica to breed in calmer waters off South Africa’s coast. The town of Hermanus has become one of the world’s premier whale-watching destinations during this time.
Visitors can take boat tours out into Walker Bay or watch these gentle giants from shore as they breach and frolic just meters away from spectators on land. Hermanus also offers several coastal paths for hiking and biking, as well as a bustling arts and crafts market.
